Forage Analysis Lab

SERVICES

Forage Analysis Lab

Located in Manheim, Lancaster County, PA, our Forage Analysis Lab is supported by Rock River Laboratory.  Rock River maintains all calibrations, quality control and reviews for the NIR testing we perform in our own lab.

Rock River also provides wet chemistry analysis on samples prepared (dried and ground) in our lab.

We participate in the NFTA program as a certified full NIR service for the local agricultural industry.

Information needed to test a sample:

  • Party to Invoice - Name, address, email and phone number.
  • Farm Name - Who the sample belongs to if different from who is to be invoiced.
  • Sample ID - What the sample is and any special description (i.e. silo, vendor, etc.)
  • Test - Indicate type of test (i.e. NIR, Mycotoxin, Wet Chemistry, etc.)

Sample collection guidance:

  • Use a 5-gallon bucket, take a handful/probe full of sample from 5 to 6 different areas of the feed.  Mix well and fill a quart size zip lock bag if you do not have our sample bag available.

Other Natural Ingredient Analysis

We prepare and dry samples for Hemp, Herbs and Vegetable analysis and finished products.  We partner with Trichome Analytical in New Jersey who performs the analysis.

We work with the PA Department of Agriculture to provide this service to PA and surrounding areas. The requirements may vary from state to state so be aware of any local state requirements you may need to adhere to.  The following is a list of many packages available followed by descriptions.

  • USDA Compliance Testing
  • Potency Analysis
  • Terpenes
  • Metals
  • Pesticides & Mycotoxins
  • Microbials
  • Tissue/Nutrient Testing
  • Identity Test

  • Services Portfolio

We provide comprehensive Certificates of Analysis (COAs) to meet all state and federal regulatory requirements and facilitate production of consumer-packaged goods.

  • Cannabinoid Potency

Our precision-calibrated High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) equipment ensures accurate testing results for 15 major cannabinoids: CBC, CBCA, CBD, CBDA, CBDV, CBDVA, CBG, CBGA, CBL, CBN, Δ8THC, Δ9THC, THCA, THCV and THCVA.

  • Terpene Profiling

Our Headspace-Gas Chromatography (HS-GC) methodology measures more than 30 unique terpenoids, which interact synergistically with cannabinoids via the entourage effect.

  • Pesticide Testing

Employing both Gas Chromatography and Liquid Chromatography with Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS/MS), we achieve the highest levels of sensitivity and accuracy for pesticide analysis. We run a full panel of tests tailored to comply with any state mandates for unapproved pesticides to ensure consumer safety.

  • Mycotoxin Analysis

With advanced screening equipment and methodologies, our testing targets these compounds produced by fungi, which are extremely toxic and hard to detect.

  • Heavy Metals

Cannabis has an unusually high tendency to uptake heavy metals from its surrounding environment.  We test for heavy and essential metal/metalloids using Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS).

  • Residual Solvents

We test extracted cannabis oil and infused products for residual hydrocarbon solvents and associated impurities by employing Headspace Gas Chromatography and mass spectrometry (HS-GC-MS).

  • Microbial Screening

Cannabis can be contaminated with pathogenic microbes such as Aspergillus, E. coli, and Salmonella which we detect using Quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction (qPCR) assays.
